Praying For Missions - July 2008

As we seek to live the call to be radically involved in the mission of God, prayer is the place to start.

Incredible India (Mom & Me 2008) - June 2008

There were 918 participants at Eagle Eyrie Conference Center for Mom and Me 2008.  Girls and their mothers from across Virginia learned about Incredible India through learning activities of music and dance, cooking, and crafts.

Less Talk…More Walk! - May 2008

It was impossible to miss the “Caribbean blue” t-shirts with flip-flops on them that could be spotted all over Eagle Eyrie Conference Center.  The t-shirts were worn by over 200 teenage girls and their leaders who were gathered for Weekender 2008, an annual retreat sponsored by WMU of Virginia.  From April 11-13, the group participated in many activities centered around the theme of “Less Talk…More Walk” and the words of 1 John 3:18 – “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth.”

March 2008 - Summer Camp at CrossRoads
For over 20 years, campers from around Virginia and beyond have come to CrossRoads Summer Camp for a week-long experience of faith, friends, and fun. Located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Amherst County, CrossRoads is the perfect setting for summer adventures. Week after week, campers experience God’s presence in new ways through high energy worship, Bible studies, recreation, and interaction with the staff and each other. Many life-changing decisions for Christ are made each summer at CrossRoads.

February 2008
Operation Christmas Child
For the first time last year, National WMU officially teamed up with Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse. Many churches and WMU groups have been involved with Samaritan’s Purse for years, packing shoe boxes every Christmas to send to underprivileged children around the world. In designating a special WMU day, it was hoped that WMU groups or individuals would take the next step, by volunteering a day at one of the processing centers where the boxes are readied for shipment overseas. Working in the processing center is an exciting way to see the volume and magnitude of this ministry which provides an opportunity to be involved in a mission project with far reaching results
